Usho Forest:
In Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the settlement of Usho (sometimes written Ushu) is located in the Usho Valley. It is located at a height of 2,300 meters, 8 kilometers (5.0 km) from Kalam and 123 kilometers (76 mi) from Mingora (7,550 feet). Only jeeps from Kalam can get there via a non-metaled route.
The lovely foggy and wet woodland in Usho is well-known. Mahodand Lake is a popular tourist destination that is 27 kilometers (17 miles) away. The only route to the Mahodand lake is blocked by the renowned Ushu glacier throughout the winter, and this route is only reopened during the summer when the glacier's snow melts and the officials clear the road of any residual snow.
How to Reach Usho Forest from Kalam Valley:
At the distance of Mingora, you can travel 113 kilometers in just 6 hours and 21 minutes to go to Ushu. Only jeeps are allowed on the non-metalized road from Kalam to Ushu. Ushu is 13 km away from Kalam. Driving time is estimated to be around an hour or more. By taking the same route that leads to Matiltan, you may reach Ushu. Only experienced hikers can accomplish the five-hour climb between Kalam and Ushu because it is so challenging. You won't have to worry about missing anything if you don't want to go trekking because you can easily get there by an automobile while taking in the picturesque Kalam suburbs.
Ushu Forest Attractions:
The lone route that round Mahodand Lake in winter is blocked by the Ushu glacier. Only in the summer is this route made accessible once the glacier's snow has melted, and any residual snow on the road has been washed off by the authorities. The protected woods is teeming with deodar trees and a wonderful area to explore. A few communities on the Kalam River are accessible via the major road that cuts through the forest.
Jaw-Dropping Beauty of Usho in winter:
Two rivers, Ushu and Utrot, meet in a region in Northern Kalam that is 6 km wide (one from the northeast and the other from the west). It's 10 kilometers from Kalam and 3200 meters above sea level. Muslims make up the majority of the population in the area, and they are fluent in Kashmiri, Pushto, Persian, and Punjabi. There are mountains that are renowned for their hiking. Due to the bitter cold of winter, people frequently relocate south during this time and only return to their houses when the weather is pleasant, usually in the spring. Up until now, Ushu's main source of income has been tourism.
